Russia increased investments in US government bonds by 80%
Russia in April 2020 almost 80% of the increased investments in government securities of the United States - to 6.85 billion dollars, according to data from the U.S. Treasury.
Of the total of 2.84 billion dollars account for short-term securities and 4,014 billion in long-term. Russia is not included in the thirty largest holders of us debt.
In March, Russia is in fact three times reduced those investments, which was the first such significant decline in investment in US treasuries in recent months. In February-January, Russia increased its investments in this asset after the reduction in December 2019.
In the first place in the list of the largest holders of US debt remains Japan, its investments for the month decreased by 5.7 billion to $ 1,266 trillion. In second place is China with 1,072 trillion (a decrease of 8.8 billion). Followed by the UK (368,5 billion), which reduced the amount of bonds on its balance sheet at 26.8 billion dollars.
