Neobychnyh exhibition of icons was opened in the Park "Patriot"

The exhibition "Heavenly patrons of the Army and Navy of Russia" opened on Sunday in the Moscow military-Patriotic Park "Patriot", told RIA Novosti one of the organizers - Director of the charitable Foundation named after Fyodor Ushakov, Igor Nikolaev.

"Last year, in Kronstadt, we made a small exhibition about the saints - the patrons of the army and Navy. The leadership of the Ministry of defence really liked this project. And here is our exhibition opened near the main temple of the Russian armed forces, even in the day of his consecration," - said Nikolaev.

The exhibition presents the work of artists from 15 regions of Russia, including the icons of the saints, executed in an unusual technique: birch bark, bronze, silver and pearls, embroidered. Also on display is the military busts from a single tree and a collection of wearable soldier's crosses of the WWII. The exposition in the Park "Patriot" will open tentatively in two weeks.

Each type of troops has its patron, said the Director of the Foundation. So, Elijah the prophet - the heavenly patron of the aerospace defence forces and airborne troops of Russia, Prince Alexander Nevsky - the army, the great Martyr Varvara - the strategic Missile forces and the Apostle Andrew is the patron Saint of the Navy of Russia.

Previously the exhibition was partially presented in several regions of Russia and abroad. The exhibition was prepared by the charity Fund of cultural and social initiatives name of the Holy Righteous warrior Feodor Ushakov, the charity "it is", the Creative Union of artists of decorative arts with the support of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Ministry of defence of the Russian Federation.

Earlier on Sunday, Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill consecrated in the Park "Patriot" the main temple of the Russian armed forces - the Resurrection Cathedral, which was erected on the 75th anniversary of victory in the great Patriotic war. The lower Church dedicated to the Holy equal to the apostles Great Prince Vladimir, the Baptizer of Rus. The upper Church - the Resurrection of Christ. All four aisles of the upper Church dedicated to the patron saints of the armed forces. On the territory of the temple complex also built a gallery-Museum "Road of memory". Its length - 1418 steps, the number of days of the great Patriotic war. There are data on more than 33 millions of veterans and their surviving photos.
