Russia's Ambassador to the United States commented on the situation with the start-3 Treaty
Russia, as a responsible nuclear power with a predictable foreign policy can "safely live" without an Agreement on the reduction of strategic offensive arms (start I), the term of which ends in a few months, but will continue to fight for its preservation, said Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Anatoly Antonov.
"We want to decide in which direction the United States is going to move in the strategic region. We see that architecture of security agreements, arms control today, virtually no. Remains extremely start to live which is a few months. Say quite pessimistic, because so far, no positive signals in this respect I'm not looking at," said Antonov in the air of the program "the Big game" on the First channel.
"That doesn't mean we won't fight for the preservation of this mechanism, but it means that we should calmly accept the actions of the US, and we too can live without the start Treaty because Russia is a responsible nuclear state which makes predictable foreign policy in this region", - said the Russian Ambassador.
The start-3 Treaty on strategic arms reductions will expire in 2021, and the U.S. claim that its extension it needs to include China and a number of weapons systems, which earlier agreement was not included.
