The state Bureau of investigation of Ukraine (GBR) finished pre-judicial investigation concerning the former guards suspected of abuse of authority in the expulsion of the former Governor of the Odessa region and ex-President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili in Poland in 2018, said the press service of the Ministry.
In November 2019, the Supreme court of Ukraine upheld the readmission Saakashvili in Poland in 2018. He, in turn, said he intends to appeal the decision.
"Investigators of the State Bureau of investigation completed a pre-trial investigation against two former officials of the State border service of Ukraine upon excess of office powers. According to the investigation in 2018 former officials were involved in the organization and implementation of illegal detention of Mikhail Saakashvili at the time of his readmission in the Republic of Poland", - stated in the message on the website of RRT.
It is noted that law enforcement officers continue an investigation against other suspects in the case.
"In the case of proof of guilt of the suspect is threatened by punishment in the form of imprisonment for the term from 3 till 8 years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions," - said in the RRG.
Earlier, the District administrative court of Kiev refused satisfaction of the claim Saakashvili, who demanded to recognize illegal the decision of the State migration service about his readmission to Poland. Saakashvili promised to apply to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine about his kidnapping and illegal deportation from the country, allegedly on the personal orders of the former President of the country Petro Poroshenko.
