The court suspended the case against the representative of the government of Spain

Madrid investigating court suspended the case concerning the representative of the government of Spain in Madrid, josé Manuel Franco in connection with permission to hold a rally on March 8, after which the capital has aggravated the epidemiological situation in connection with COVID-19.

In court Jose Manuel Franco filed a private person in connection with the fact that his Agency was allowed to hold a mass rally on 8 March in defense of women's rights, despite the fact that in Spain at that time was already identified 600 cases of infection, 17 people died. In Madrid the meeting was attended by 120 thousand people.

However, the investigative judge of the court 51 in Madrid Carmen rodríguez-Medel made the decision temporarily to defer consideration of the case because it did not find sufficient evidence to pursue the Franco accusations of crimes related to abuse of official powers, follows from the document, which is available to RIA Novosti.

The judge came to the conclusion that in the period from 5 to 14 March Franco was not objective and reliable information about the risk to human health posed by the rallies and mass actions. He "had received no reports or medical guidelines on the issue, also do not require any of the competent authorities in the sanitary area," the document says. In addition, "no physical, legal, government or individual demanded from the representative of the government in Madrid to prohibit or limit in any way the events or manifestations due COVID-19".

Thus the judge refused to completely dismiss the case, which required the State bar.

The court's decision can be appealed.
