The launch date for the first unit of the NPP will determine in a week, said the Ambassador

Launch date of the first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant will be determined later in the week, the parties expect that it was fully operational in February 2021, said the Ambassador of Belarus in Moscow Vladimir Semashko.

"In unit 1 we are here just a week together with colleagues from the leadership of Rosatom will decide the specific date of physical start - up," Semashko said during an online conference.

As the Ambassador noted, Moscow and Minsk expect that this unit is "completely, 100% earn" in February 2021.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant with two WWER-1200 reactors with a total capacity of 2,400 MW is being built in Ostrovets (Grodno oblast). For the country's first nuclear power plant in the Russian project generation 3 , which fully meets international norms and IAEA recommendations on safety. The commissioning of the second unit is scheduled for 2021.

According to the Ambassador of Russia in Minsk Dmitry Mezentsev, the builders of the Belarusian NPP and Rosatom endeavour to the station early next year to become fully operational.
