MSU was the best Russian universities in QS world ranking
Moscow state University named after M. V. Lomonosov recognized the best among Russian universities in the QS World University Rankings, told RIA Novosti the organizers.
The world ranking of universities QS World University Rankings, compiled by global research and consulting center QS Quacquarelli Symonds, includes a thousand of the best universities in the world. QS uses six indicators to compile the rankings — academic reputation, reputation among employers, citation index, the ratio of students and teachers, the proportion of international staff and proportion of international students.
"This year MSU M. V. Lomonosov reached its best result in the history of the QS rankings since 2004. He now holds the 74th place in the world, up from 84th and strengthened its position in the ranking for the fourth consecutive year. The rating includes 28 Russian universities, 17 of which have improved their position compared to last year", — stated in the message.
Second among Russian universities St. Petersburg state University, ranked 225th in the world, the third — Novosibirsk state University, located on 228th place, the fourth — Tomsk state University, which became the 250th in the world, the fifth — Moscow physico-technical Institute, showed 281st place in the world standings. Also in the top ten of the Russian universities entered the Moscow state technical University named after Bauman (282nd in the world), national research UNIVERSITY Higher school of Economics (298-e), national research nuclear University "MEPhI" (314-e), Russian University of friendship of peoples (326-e) and the Ural Federal University (331-e a place).
It is noted that MSU has climbed in the rankings thanks to a growing reputation in the global academic community. Now he is on the 71st place in the world in terms of the QS "Academic reputation" which takes into account the feedback 102 thousand representatives of the academic community around the world. Last year, he took the 77 th place in the world on this indicator.
This year the rating includes four new Russian party — returned Altai state University, first came to Saint-Petersburg electrotechnical University "LETI", Russian Academy of national economy and state service under the President of the Russian Federation and the Perm state University.
PFUR has shown considerable growth in terms of "Academic reputation", in which he rose to 138 positions, and "Reputation with employers", here the increase was 112 compared to last year.

In addition, 50 points increased academic reputation of the HSE. In just five years the University has improved its performance in the ranking by over 300 positions.

According to her, academic reputation is an important characteristic of involvement of the University in the global agenda. The high reputation of the University means that the leading experts know University and consider it a significant phenomenon in the academic market. Yudkevich noted that the formation of reputation is influenced by large projects, the flagship ideas of collaboration, which appears on the which manifests itself the University. Therefore, despite the fact that the University with a solid history to be recognized easier, the young ambitious and dynamic universities is quite competitive.
According to the rector of MEPhI Mikhail Strikhanov, Russian universities have become increasingly prominent on the global scientific and educational market, as evidenced by published rankings of QS.
"Prior to the implementation of the project 5-100 MEPhI generally not included in the QS ranking and is now ranked 314-e a place. Dynamics of positions in the University ranking shows that the implemented transformation in research and international activities, the management structure is yielding positive results. Today NRNU MEPhI studying about a quarter of foreign students, there are 18% of foreign scientific and pedagogical workers," - said Strikhanov.
Massachusetts Institute of technology (MIT) is recognized as the best University in the world for the ninth year in a row. The three leaders remain American universities: for the Massachusetts Institute of technology, followed by Stanford and Harvard universities. The fourth became California Institute of technology. Another one of the American universities included in the top 10 - the University of Chicago, became the ninth.
Best higher education institution in the UK and in Europe is Oxford University, which dropped from fourth to fifth place. The University of Cambridge remained in seventh place. The top 10 includes two British universities - Imperial College London (eighth place) and UCL - University College London (tenth place).
Best University in continental Europe is ETH Zurich, which has become the sixth is to her the highest rating in history.
The top 100 in the world includes 26 Asian universities - this is the highest indicator for all history of a rating. These 26 universities are mainland China and South Korea - six universities from each country, Hong Kong and Japan with five each, Singapore - two universities, Malaysia and Taiwan - in one place.
