The Portuguese Finance Minister resigned
The Finance Minister of Portugal mário Centeno resigned, offering himself instead as a head of Department joão Leau, said the press service of the President of the country.
The President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has accepted the handover ceremony is scheduled for June 15.
Centeno has been Finance Minister for five years and, according to local media reports, his resignation was long anticipated, as it is vying for the position of head of the Bank of Portugal. The mandate of the current President of the Bank expired in July.
