Serbian veterans presented medals in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Victory

The veterans of the national liberation struggle in Yugoslavia on Wednesday presented the medal in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Victory, the correspondent of RIA Novosti.

The solemn ceremony dedicated to celebration of day of Russia held at the Russian centre of science and culture "Russian House" in Belgrade. The jubilee medal "75 years of Victory in the great Patriotic war 1941-1945" awarded by Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botan-Kharchenko. Awards were given to two former fighters of the people's liberation army of Yugoslavia.

The event was attended by the Minister of defence of Serbia Alexander Wulin, the Minister of labour, employment, social policy and veterans Affairs, Zoran Djordjevic and representatives of the veteran organization "SOBER".

The date of the liberation of Serbia and all of Yugoslavia from the Nazis during the Second world war associated with the completion of the Belgrade operation on 20 October 1944. In the battle for the capital was attended by soldiers of the Soviet second and third Ukrainian fronts under the command of Marshal Fyodor Tolbukhin and the people's liberation army of Yugoslavia. On the postwar evaluations of the Yugoslav authorities, on its territory were buried more than 7 million died during the liberation of the red army soldiers.
