The Chinese Ambassador commented on the draft law on national security of Hong Kong

A bill to protect the national security of Hong Kong will not affect the autonomy of the special administrative region of China, as well as on the rights and freedoms of local residents, said Chinese Ambassador to Moscow Zhang Hongwei.

"The creation of the legal and Executive mechanisms to protect the national security of the SAR of Hong Kong is aimed at a very small number of actions that endanger national security, so it does not affect the autonomy of Hong Kong, does not affect the rights and freedoms of the citizens of Hong Kong and does not affect the lawful rights and interests of foreign investors in Hong Kong," said the Ambassador in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The diplomat noted that, on the contrary, thanks to the decision of vsekitajsky meeting of national representatives (NPC, the Chinese Parliament), the legal system of Hong Kong will be more perfect, social order is more stable, control on the basis of laws more effective, and the business environment more favourable.

In recent days, relations between the U.S. and China worsened due to developed by the Chinese Parliament of the draft law on the protection of national security of Hong Kong, which, according to Washington, is aimed at the elimination of its high autonomy. President Donald trump has threatened to impose sanctions and revoke the special status of Hong Kong. China rejected any criticism and stated that the issues of Hong Kong are solely an internal matter.
