The Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla in a telephone conversation confirmed the rejection of the use of unilateral sanctions, said the foreign Ministry.

"The Ministers discussed some of the stories of the Latin American agenda, including the current situation around vnutrisosudistogo settlement, given the role of Cuba as one of the countries-guarantors of the negotiation process. Confirmed the full consonance of the two countries 'positions in support of the basic purposes and principles of the UN Charter, a fundamental rejection of the application contrary to international law unilateral sanctions", - stated in the message.

The foreign Ministers also exchanged views on topical aspects of bilateral cooperation, including in terms of interaction in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus.

Earlier it was reported that the US authorities have added to the black list another seven Cuban organizations. Among them, the financial institution FINCIMEX, three hotels, two diving centers and one marine Park for tourists. According to Secretary Mike Pompeo, all of these organizations are associated with the military, and the profit from these facilities, "the Castro regime" uses for "oppression of the Cuban people and funding for its intervention in Venezuela at the expense of the Cuban people or private enterprise in Cuba."

The trade embargo against Cuba was imposed by the US in 1962. At the end of 2014, the country announced the beginning of a gradual normalization of relations, and in July 2015 restored diplomatic relations. Subsequently, Washington and Havana have signed a number of bilateral agreements, although the trade embargo was not lifted. However, in June 2017 the US President Donald trump announced the cancellation of "erroneous" policy of his predecessor Barack Obama to normalize relations with Havana. The us government has imposed a series of sanctions against Cuba.

In early 2019, the administration trump announced that the United States on may 2 will not postpone the application of the Helms-Burton of 1996, which distributes economic constraints not only on Cuba but also on foreign companies collaborating with her, including for the benefit of property seized after the revolution the citizens of the United States. In mid-September, the U.S. President signed the decree on the renewal of the trade embargo for one year.

States later imposed sanctions against Raul Castro, it became known on September 26. According to Pompeo, the US have made Castro and his family to the sanctions list for involvement in the violation of human rights. This decision was criticized not only Havana, but also in Moscow. Cuban foreign Minister Parrilla to the UN General Assembly said that the country condemns the restrictions. The Russian foreign Ministry sanctions against Castro called meaningless and unworthy step.
