Putin holds a meeting with cultural figures

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin meets with workers of culture.

The head of state in the beginning of the meeting said that he is very happy to welcome you all to the birthday "of our great poet and to congratulate Pushkin and day of Russian language day".

"Today we celebrate two of the state holiday, which are closely, inextricably linked - and in meaning, and in its essence, significance, too, of course," said Putin.

The head of state noted that Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin is not only a treasure of Russian and world culture. "He was found - you know this better than anyone else - the founder of modern Russian language, the state language of our country, the Russian Federation. The day of Russian language has the status of an international holiday, as Russian is one of the official languages of the United Nations", - said Putin.

The event was attended by the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, the Minister of culture Olga Lyubimova, the head of Buryatia Alexey Tsydenov, presidential adviser Vladimir Tolstoy.
