The source said about the new postponement of the launch of the satellite "GLONASS-K"

The launch from Plesetsk navigation satellite of new generation "GLONASS-K" pending at the end of July with the possibility of further postponement due to delays in production, reported RIA Novosti source in the space industry.

In may, another Agency source in the industry said the postponement of the launch "GLONASS-K" from the end of June to mid-July. Before the launch was scheduled for may, even earlier - in March.

He added that the equipment is delivered to cosmodrome is planned until the end of June.

In a press-service of the Roscosmos declined to comment to RIA Novosti this information.

The launch of the "GLONASS-K" will be implemented with the help of the carrier rocket "Soyuz-2.1 b" with the upper stage "Fregat".

The first satellite "GLONASS-K" was launched into space in February 2011 and is currently undergoing flight tests. The second "GLONASS-K" was launched in December 2014 and February 2016 works for the intended purpose.

In February 2020, a representative of the company "Information satellite systems named after Reshetnev" Roman Fatkulin said that in 2020-2022 years will receive nine "GLONASS-K".

A new generation of satellites "GLONASS-K and GLONASS-K2" are different from the device of the previous generation "GLONASS-M" a large number of emitted navigation signals (five signals in "GLONASS-M", seven, and nine - "GLONASS" and "GLONASS-K2") and long life (seven years, "GLONASS-M" 10 years - "GLONASS" and "GLONASS-K2").

Now the Russian orbital group global satellite navigation system GLONASS includes 27 spacecraft (25 "GLONASS-M" and two "GLONASS-K"), of which 23 work on purpose, one is for flight tests, one in service and two in reserve.

For global coverage of the Earth of navigation signals of the system requires 24 operational satellites.
