The United States refused to return the representatives of the Russian Federation taken diplomatic property in new York, which was necessary on humanitarian grounds, said zampolpreda to the UN Gennady Kuzmin at a meeting of the Committee of the UN General Assembly on relations with the host country. The meeting was convened at the request of the Russian Federation.

"When the Governor of the state of new York declared a state of emergency in response to the growing pandemic COVID-19, we asked to return the specified property for use by mission personnel in order to reduce the risk associated with the spread of the coronavirus. In this regard, the US Mission was sent a note verbale," - said Kuzmin.

"We were hoping that at least humanitarian considerations, not to mention legal obligations will prevail over political motives. But the United States has not responded to the note verbale of the Russian mission, reporting to our Embassy in Washington that we should not wait for a positive response," - said the diplomat.

According to him, Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia sent a letter to the UN Secretary General, which was asked to intervene and help the return of property.

Kuzmin stressed that such steps by the United States in violation of the provisions of the agreement on the host country.
