About 50 thousand people participated in the Black Lives Matter demonstration in Vienna against police violence motivated by racism in the United States, said Tuesday RIA Novosti the press service of the police of Vienna.

"According to police estimates, the demonstration was attended by about 50 thousand people. All was peaceful, the riots were not" - said the Agency interlocutor.

Mass rally in memory of the African-American George Floyd began on the area of human Rights. The audience - mostly young people - came to the Karlsplatz. They carried placards reading "black Lives matter", "Dark skin is not a crime". The posters were mostly in English.

Also many of the demonstrators wore masks with the words "I can't breathe" - the last words Floyd spoke before he died.

The death of 46-letnego Floyd, the detention of which ended in tragedy sparked a wave of protests across the United States. The protesters are against racism and police brutality. The peaceful rally was accompanied by pogroms, which led to the attraction forces of the National guard to support the order.
