In Norilsk to deter use of diesel fuel marine booms

To contain diesel fuel in Norilsk, which spilled after the accident at TPP-3, used marine booms, damage not the Kara sea, told reporters the head of Rosprirodnadzor Svetlana Radionova.

One of the tanks storing diesel fuel at TPP-3 Norilsk may 29 was damaged, leakage of about 21 thousand cubic meters of fuel. As explained by the company "Norilsk Nickel", the main cause of the accident was warming in the permafrost, which resulted in the movement of the supports under the fuel tanks. On the territory of the Krasnoyarsk region introduced a state of emergency at the Federal level.

"Damage to the Kara sea, we do not consider as a sufficiently long length of water bodies. Now the boom uses marine type. They are the most reliable to curb the penetration into the lake Pyasino," said Radionova.

She noted that now contains about one hundred cubic meters of clean diesel fuel in temporary storage tanks on the banks of the river. According to her, questions burning are not considered.

The company now buys the tank where the fuel will be stored and then removed. The head of Rosprirodnadzor also stressed that the natural balance should be fully restored regardless of what costs will be incurred by the company.
