On CHP plant in Norilsk will check for spill of diesel fuel

The General Prosecutor's office requested the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor to conduct an unscheduled inspection at CHP-3 of Norilsk because of the oil spill, the press service of the Ministry.

Last Friday, the CHP-3 Norilsk incident: due to a sudden subsidence of the supports, have served flawlessly for over 30 years, has damaged one of the tanks storing diesel fuel that result in leakage of about 21 thousand cubic meters of fuel. As explained by Norilsk Nickel, the main cause of the accident was warming in the permafrost, which resulted in the movement of the supports under the fuel tanks. "The General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation took control of the verification activities in connection with emergency oil spill at the industrial site of joint-stock company "Norilsk-Taymyr energy company", - stated in the message.

It is noted that the General Director of the company declared a warning about the inadmissibility of violations of the law when operating other particularly hazardous production facilities. Territorial administration of Rosprirodnadzor requested to undertake the enterprise an unscheduled inspection.
