Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko said he would not allow organization "Maidan" in the country on the eve and on the day of the presidential election.
As the press service of the President, the statement was made Monday at a meeting with Chairman of state security Committee of Belarus Valery Vakulchik.
"Public safety is the cornerstone. And the state security Committee belongs, together with the President the leading role in the protection of the independence and sovereignty of our state. We absolutely know the goals pursued then the individual wind turbines. These goals are clear to us: let us have a marketplace on the eve of elections or on the election day. So they had planned. Want at this meeting to warn you and all who will hear us, all these "resistance" want to warn you that the Maidan in Belarus", - said the head of state.
Currently in Belarus, the campaign for the presidential election, the elections scheduled for 9 August. On the eve of the first Deputy interior Minister of the Republic Gennady Kazakevich said that the situation in Belarus in the period of the political campaign is heating up seriously, however, the Agency has the necessary Arsenal of forces and means to ensure security.
On Friday, in Grodno held a picket in support of the nomination of a presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovski, spouse of the Belarusian works of Sergei Tikhanovski, in the course of which was arrested he and more than a dozen of his supporters. The interior Ministry then said that the picketers were arrested for violence against the police, criminal case is brought. Human rights activists have said they believe Tikhanovski a political prisoner and demanded his release.
On Sunday in several cities of Belarus, including Minsk, were mass pickets to collect signatures in support of nomination of presidential contenders, an alternative to Lukashenko. As reported, not registered by the Belarusian authorities human rights center "Viasna", in the course of the day have been detained at least 30 activists, including collectors of signatures in support of Tikhanovski and opposition politician Nikolai Statkevich. Later, the center reported that a number of activists were released by the right keepers.
