New York police ousted the protesters from the highway

The new York city police, using pepper spray, were forced away from the motorway, a group of protesters because of the death in Minneapolis of the African-American George Floyd, the correspondent of RIA Novosti.

Previously part of the demonstrators climbed the Brooklyn bridge and then turned onto the overpass of the FDR highway and blocked traffic in both directions. The railway passes along the Eastern shore of Manhattan.

The protesters then marched down the motorway to go with it. The police kept their distance, but at the last moment approached and asked the protesters rather to leave the roadway.

As in all day in the police officers sounded the abuse. In the end, it came to clashes, and the police flew bottles of water.

Law enforcement authorities in response to the use of pepper spray. Some protesters were detained.

After people were forced out of the road, the crowd dispersed.

One of the leaders of this group Vidal Guzman in an interview with RIA Novosti said that the task of the protesters were out on the Brooklyn bridge and thus attract the attention of the press and the country to the problem of violence by the police.

"Our action today was attended by about thousand people. We started in Harlem, where some 500 of us there, then we were joined by other groups," said Guzman.

"We want justice. We will fight against the brutality of the police," he added.

The death of the African-American George Floyd caused the riots in Minneapolis and other cities after the appearance of "viral" video of the arrest of Floyd. The video shows that the police tackled Floyd and handcuffed him, and one of the officers leaned a knee on the neck of the Floyd. The detainee first few times he says he can't breathe and then losing consciousness. Floyd was admitted to hospital and died in intensive care.

When this information became widespread, the leadership of the city police announced the dismissal of four officers who participated in the arrest. The city held a protest, accompanied by vandalism and fires. The investigation into the death of Floyd has joined the FBI, which declared the case a priority.
