The Russian upper stage "Fregat", which is stored at the Kourou spaceport in French Guiana, have identified a leak of toxic fuel, said RIA Novosti the representative of the press service of the Roscosmos.

He stressed that the leadership of NPO Lavochkin, the company "glavkosmos" TsENKI and working on the organization of the departure of the specialists on site to assess the situation and take the necessary measures, their arrival is expected in early June.

According to the representative of "Roscosmos", the "Frigate" is stored in the room that meets all international safety standards, including ecological and poses no danger to personnel and the environment.

Earlier it was reported that the start of the carrier rocket "Soyuz-ST-A" with the satellite UAE Falcon Eye-2 was scheduled in early March, but was postponed for April due to problems with the "Frigate". Booster had to be replaced by another.

However, in mid-March Kourou spaceport was temporarily closed due to pandemic coronavirus. As a result, the specialists of NPO Lavochkin leaked fuel from the "Frigate" and in late April, returned home.

Currently, after the opening of the cosmodrome the launch of Falcon Eye-2, according to RIA Novosti source in the rocket and space industry, is scheduled for 1 October.
