The Ministry of foreign Affairs made the US withdrawal from the Treaty banning nuclear weapon tests
Moscow does not exclude that the US is preparing the ground for the withdrawal of his signature under the Treaty on comprehensive ban on nuclear tests, said the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
Earlier, the Washington Post, citing sources reported that the US administration discussed the possibility of holding the first since 1992 nuclear testing.
"The scheme is clear: first, there are fictional accusations against others, and then preparing the ground for any obvious steps the administration. As noted earlier the Russian side, we do not rule out that Washington thus preparing public opinion to withdraw its signature under the Treaty on comprehensive ban of nuclear tests," Zakharova said at the briefing.
She emphasized that the CTBT is one of the most important documents in the field of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
"I also want to note that a similar sequence of actions was studied by the us administration repeatedly through leakage, the stuffing of appropriate materials, preparing articles" - said the official representative of the foreign Ministry.
The agreement on a comprehensive test ban Treaty (CTBT) was signed in 1996, however, a number of countries, including the US and China still have not ratified it, unlike Russia, which did it in 2000. The countries with nuclear weapons have assumed a voluntary commitment not to conduct such tests.
