Belarusian human rights organizations have recognized political prisoners contender for the presidency of Belarus, former head of Belgazprombank Victor Babariko and other law enforcement authorities detained members of his initiative group, said in a statement published on the website not registered by the authorities human rights center "Viasna".
"We, representatives of Belarusian human rights organization, claimed about recognition of Victor Babariko, Eduard babaryka (the son of the politician and the head of his initiative group – ed.), (other members of the initiative group – ed.) Svetlana Kupreeva, Vladimir Dudarev political prisoners", - the document says.
Contender for the presidency of Belarus, former head of the HTP administration Valery Tsepkalo stated that continued participation in the presidential race, trying not to think about the danger to himself.
"I just move in this political process, not allow any violations of the act in strict compliance with the Belarusian legislation. Are there any concerns? On this account I do not think," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti, answering a question about the presence of fear for himself during the presidential race.
The EU expects Belarus will officially invite OSCE representatives to monitor presidential elections as soon as possible, reads the statement of the representative of the Foreign service of the EU.
Presidential elections will be held in Belarus on 9 August. In the political campaigns 19 of the June 13 presidential candidates in getting signatures for his nomination candidates. At least for registration is 100 thousand valid signatures. The decision on registration of candidates will be taken by the CEC.
