The President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, in a telephone conversation with Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella was asked to open the entry of Moldovan citizens in the context of the pandemic.
"We regretted that the pandemic COVID-19 stopped earlier exchanges between our two countries, including on the free movement of people. In this context, I appealed to President Mattarella to allow citizens of Moldova to enter Italy, provided they present certificates on the results of testing on COVID-19 and if necessary, re-testing immediately upon arrival in Italy," he wrote on his page in Facebook.
Italy celebrates national Republic day without the traditional military parade in Rome, which this year was cancelled due to pandemic COVID-19.
The Republic day is set to commemorate the events of 2 June 1946, when during a national referendum on the form of government the majority of Italians voted for a Republic and eliminate monarchy which has the taint of collaboration with the fascist regime of Mussolini.
