"From the point of view of the risk of infection in General and infection in terms of blood transfusion stations - it is fantastic, it is practically impossible, because there are and without an epidemic ... all regime efforts to avoid this. We are continuing surgical activity, continuing the harvesting of the blood itself, by the way ... we are the special problems seen with this, " said Gaultier at a press conference in MIA "Russia Today", answering the question of whether decreased or increased the number of blood during a pandemic.
The number of transplants that are carried out in Russia in 2020 declined by slightly more than 100 operations compared to the previous year, in spite of coronavirus, said the Director of the SMRC of Transplantology and artificial organs of a name of Shumakov, chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of health transplant Russia Sergei Gauthier.
At a press conference in MIA "Russia Today", he noted that in many regions where there is a "epidemic collapse," the hospital was redeveloped, and resuscitation was not working for blood donation, respectively, were not carried out transplantation.
Branch of the National medical research center of Transplantology and artificial organs named after academician V. I. Shumakov was officially opened in the Volga Volgograd region, the symbolic ribbon was cut by the Russian Minister of health Michael Murashko, the correspondent of RIA Novosti from the event.
The first and only branch of the center of Transplantology of a name of Shumakov began work in the city of Volzhsky, which will provide residents of the Volgograd region and neighboring regions on-site assistance. The building was erected, according to the head of the Volga Igor Voronin, since the beginning of 2000-ies. According to the Director of the centre Sergey Gaultier, the cost of the project amounted to about 6.5 billion rubles.
