Scientists have created new materials for future energy

The world's first industrial method for the synthesis of highly stable perovskites has been developed by scientists of the Ural Federal University. the first President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin (Urfu), together with colleagues from India. According to the authors, this opens up the possibility of efficient application of these substances, recognized by the magazine “Science” breakthrough material, energy and electronics. The results were published in the journal Materials Science in Semiconductor Processing.

Perovskites — a class of minerals with pseudokoningii crystal structure. Starting in 2012, perovskites, according to scientists, are actively studied as an extremely promising material for a number of areas, particularly for solar energy.

Russian scientists have created a "devourer" of oil in the wastewater

Scientists of the Siberian Federal University (SFU) has created a special sorbent for wastewater treatment. As explained in the press service of the University, a new sorbent based on live bacteria has the property of bio-oxidation and is able to digest components of petroleum products. This eliminates the ingress of wastewater into natural water bodies. The study is published in "IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering".

According to experts, today the technical system wastewater of many industrial enterprises, including oil refineries, need to be improved. Installed at the enterprises of oil removers designed to separate and retain hazardous pollutants, working an average of 30% of the declared efficiency, many toxicants get into the environment and cause significant environmental damage.

Unique artificial blood vessels developed in Russia

New technology to create artificial blood vessels that will make the treatment of acute thrombosis is much more accessible, has been developed by scientists of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU). According to the researchers, their proposed method is more efficient and better counterparts, and almost twice cheaper. The results were published in the journal Applied Surface Science.

Artificial vessels (grafts) are popular today in the treatment of acute thrombosis. In case to restore the functionality of the vessel medically or surgically is not possible, the affected area is removed and replaced with artificial, made of polycaprolactone or other biocompatible material.

Prehistoric giant trees can appear in Europe, scientists say

An international group of scientists experimentally tested the possibility of one of the oldest trees in the world sequoias to adapt to the climatic conditions of contemporary Western Europe. As explained by the researchers, the choice of the object is due to its unique properties: the plant grows fast, its wood does not rot, and the bark is almost no light. A report on the experiment published in the prestigious international journal Nature Springer.

According to the authors, because of its unique properties, the Sequoia is very promising for the forest industry, but its replaybility to date prevented widespread plantations of redwoods outside its natural growing habitat – Pacific coast of the United States.

Rectors of Russian universities approve the increase in the number of budget places in the regions

Heads of Russian universities are highly appreciated to provide them with additional budget places in the 2021/22 academic year from the Ministry of education. This measure will help gifted students to receive education at the expense of the state in a situation when the pandemic is in the early stages many families have reduced income, said the interlocutors RIA Novosti.

The Ministry of science and higher education of the Russian Federation has allocated the Russian universities 33,7 thousands of additional budget places in the 2021/22 academic year. This was done in response to the message of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Federal Assembly on January 15, 2020.

In Russia figured out how to protect crops without spraying chemicals

A unique means of protection of agricultural plants against pathogens has been developed by scientists of the Siberian Federal University (SFU). According to the authors, the new drug will allow to avoid expensive and environmentally damaging spraying pesticides. The results of the study presented in the journal International Journal of Biological Macromolecules.

Traditional methods of crop protection, as explained by experts, involves the processing of grain, the soil and plants with chemicals several times a season. In contrast, developed in the SFU tool once placed in the soil before planting, working the entire vegetative period.

The Ministry of education completed the distribution of budget places in universities by 31 July

The Ministry of science and higher education of the Russian Federation plans on July 31 to complete the allocation of state universities and desperatelty 11.4 thousand places allocated for the academic year 2020/21, will be available 542,7 thousands of budget places, the press service of the Ministry.

"On 31 July the Ministry of education of Russia plans to complete the process of distribution of admission quotas (budget places) for the 2021/22 academic year, and despradelle 11.4 thousand of budget places to 2020/21 academic year. On the 2021/22 academic year total number of budget places will be 542,7 thousand, of which 33,7 thousands of additional funded places allocated in response to the message of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Federal Assembly on January 15, 2020", - stated in the message.

In Russia has developed a similar "snake vision"

New production technology for infrared photodetector matrix has been developed by scientists of the competence Center STI "Sensation" at the National research University "MIET" (NRU MIET), reported the press service of the University. According to experts of the University, this technology will allow cameras to "see" in the infrared range like mosquitoes, some species of fish and snakes.

This feature of view allows its holders to hunt successfully in the dark or in the cold reservoirs: warm-blooded prey looks contrasting against the cooler background. Camera with such image sensors available will be able to distinguish objects in fog, dusty conditions and even behind opaque obstacles, is spoken in the message of the University.

Russian scientists figured out a way to help blind people "see" skin

Employees of the Baltic Federal University named Kant (Kaliningrad) intend to create a technique for a so-called touch-of-view that would enable blind people use touch to "see" the skin, reported the press service of the BFU.

"The idea of touch of view is not new, in the review of literature on this topic, I found an article in 1969 in the journal Nature, where it is experimentally proved that the image generated on the back of a man with a sensor of the plurality of vibrators may be recognized. During this experiment the person can read letters and even recognize the outlines. And this work inspired me to the idea of developing a device for the blind", - said the head of the laboratory of optical radiation science and technology Park "Fabrika" Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University Dmitry Schitz.

Scientists told how to saturate the body "longevity protein"

A diet based on buckwheat has a unique healing effect on the organism of mammals, believe the researchers of the Siberian Federal University (SFU). According to them, the use of buckwheat increases the level of the "longevity protein" SIRT1 and provides a number of other positive effects. The study is published in the Journal of Cereal Science.

Sirtuins as well — a large family of proteins involved in the formation of fat cells and glucose metabolism. Included in this family of protein SIRT1 is involved in many cellular processes, including regulating mechanisms of aging. According to scientists, high levels of SIRT1 slows aging and increases stress resistance of the organism.
