Lavrov assessed the chances of saving JCPOA

Moscow believes that the chances of saving Iranian nuclear deal remain, said Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the meeting with the Minister of foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Zarif on Tuesday arrived in Moscow. The last time the Iranian Minister arrived in Russia in mid-June.

Earlier, the US introduced in the UN security Council a draft resolution on the extension of special regime of arms transfers (arms embargo) against Iran, which expires this fall. According to the draft, the security Council must decide that after the expiration of the measures imposed in resolution 2231, "all member States shall prevent the direct or indirect supply, sale or transfer to Iran through their territories or by their nationals, or using their vessels or aircraft... of arms and related material".

Borrell said he was willing to do everything possible to save JCPOA

EU high representative for foreign and security policy of Josep Borrell said he was willing to do everything possible to maintain a Joint comprehensive plan of action (SVPD) on the Iranian nuclear program, in cooperation with other actors in the process.

"As coordinator of the joint Committee AGREEMENT, I am determined to do everything possible with the other remaining members and the international community to save the agreement," the statement reads Borrell on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the conclusion of the nuclear deal with Iran.
