The head of the US Senate Committee for international Affairs Jim Risch called on the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to resign if his re-election would be undemocratic.
"Mr. Lukashenko must allow a genuine tabulation of yesterday's vote to leave if, as reported, he was not re-elected in a democratic way. He also needs to immediately stop the suppression of the media, off the Internet, arrests and violence against those who seek no other way for Belarus. The peaceful transfer of power is vital for the future of Belarus and its sovereignty," - said in a written statement Risha.
