The city Council of the city of Charleston, South Carolina, unanimously voted to remove from the Central square a statue of the former Vice President of the United States and ideologue of the slave policy of John Calhoun, informs television channel ABC News 4.

According to local newspaper the Charleston City Paper, meeting of the Council held remotely and lasted 105 minutes.
